Safeguarding Risk Assessment
When working with children, young people or adults at risk, all aspects of interaction should be assessed to identify potential safeguarding risks.
What is a Safeguarding Risk Assessment?
A safeguarding risk assessment offers a structured approach to identifying, evaluating, and managing potential risks that could harm people within and/or working with an organisation.
The aim of the assessment is to ensure the safety and well-being of those at risk, by proactively addressing and then developing procedures which mitigate any identified threats.

How often should a safeguarding audit be conducted? There is no set timeframe for how often a safeguarding audit should be conducted, because it really is dependent on the type and size of the organisation, the setting and the level of safeguarding risk. We can help you understand what the appropriate audit cycle should look like for your organisation and when an audit should be implemented outside of a structured cycle too.

What are the benefits of a safeguarding audit?A safeguarding audit has many benefits for the organisation and your people. An audit is designed to identify vulnerabilities and mitigate risks which enables organisations to take proactive steps to prevent harm. A safeguarding audit improves compliance with relevant legislation, regulations and best practice which in turn helps minimise any risks to reputation. The audit process will also highlight any improvements needed to general awareness of safeguarding issues and staff training. Conducting safeguarding audits regularly also demonstrates a strong organisational culture and commitment to the safety of your people which in turn builds trust and confidence among all stakeholders. Safeguarding audits provide opportunities for continual improvement which ensures you stay effective and up-to-date.
